Community Competition Terms

The terms for anyone who organizes a league, tournament, ladder, cup or show match using Hero Drop.

Version draft-0 · Updated October 11, 2026

In these terms, “Hero Drop”, “we” and “us” mean [STUDIO LEGAL ENTITY], the company that makes and operates Hero Drop. A plain-language summary is in the organizer guide.

1. Who these terms are for

These terms apply to anyone who organizes a competition that uses Hero Drop: a league, tournament, ladder, cup or show match. That holds whether or not it runs on Hero Drop’s league tools. Players who only take part in a competition don’t need to accept anything beyond the Terms of Use.

2. Definitions

  • Hero Drop IP: the Hero Drop name and logo, the characters, maps, art, music, sound, screenshots and footage of the game, and anything else we own in the game.
  • Organizer: the person or group running a competition.
  • Official League: the league run by us, called the Drop League. No one else’s league is official.
  • Community League: a competition run under the free licence in section 3.
  • Licensed League: a competition run under a separate written agreement with us (section 5).

3. The free community licence

Organizers may, for free and without asking first:

  • run competitions in Hero Drop, including on Hero Drop’s league tools and servers, inside the caps in section 4;
  • use the name “Hero Drop” in plain text to describe what the competition is (“a Hero Drop community league”);
  • stream, record and publish matches from the competition;
  • collect entry fees and award prizes inside the caps in section 4.

4. Caps for the free licence

A competition above any of these caps needs a Licensed League agreement (section 5).

Cap Value
Approved teams per league [OPEN]
Open seasons per league at a time [OPEN]
Total prize value per competition [OPEN]
Entry fee per team or player [OPEN], never more than covers the prizes
Commercial sponsors None
Merch using Hero Drop IP None

5. What needs a Licensed League agreement

  • Anything above a cap in section 4.
  • Commercial sponsors, subject to the sponsorship policy.
  • Selling merch that uses Hero Drop IP.
  • Using the Hero Drop logo, or any Hero Drop art, in the competition’s own name, logo or branding.
  • Caster tools and YouTube publishing on Hero Drop’s league tools.

We decide each licensed agreement individually and may charge for it.

6. Names, logos and “official”

  • Only the Official League may call itself “official”, or use anything that suggests we run or endorse it.
  • A competition’s name may not contain “official”, “Hero Drop” or “HeroDrop”. It may not be confusingly similar to the Official League or to any of its teams.
  • Every community competition shows this line wherever it presents itself: “[Competition name] is a community competition. It is not run or endorsed by Hero Drop.”

7. Merchandise

No merch may use Hero Drop IP without a written merch licence. We may report infringing listings to the marketplaces that sell them. A competition may sell merch that carries only its own name and its own art.

8. Results

  • Only results played on Hero Drop’s servers through Hero Drop’s league tools are verified. A competition may not describe any other result as verified, official or ranked by Hero Drop.
  • We record results played on Hero Drop’s servers, and may show them publicly in the game and on the league pages.

9. Running a fair competition

Organizers must:

  • publish their rules before the competition starts;
  • pay out every prize they promise within [OPEN] days of the end of the competition;
  • follow the Terms of Use and the Code of Conduct, and enforce them;
  • not ask players for account credentials, or for anything else outside the competition.

10. Suspension and revocation

We may suspend or revoke a community licence, or a Licensed League agreement, when an organizer breaks these terms. A suspended league can’t start new seasons, enter teams, book servers or play matches on Hero Drop’s league tools. Its past results stay on record.

Players are never penalized for having taken part in a competition whose organizer broke these terms.

11. No endorsement, no guarantee

A community licence is not an endorsement. Hero Drop’s servers and league tools are provided as they are. We may limit server time for community competitions so that Ranked and the Official League always get theirs.

12. Changes

We may change these terms by publishing a new version here. A league that is already running stays on the version it accepted until its current season ends.
